To promote the formation of and develop training programs for pastoral agents which includes cross border exchanges to sensitize
these agents to the life experiences of refugees and asylum seekers in host countries and countries of origin.To seek to address the root causes of displacement through the promotion of peace building
activities such as encouraging Church led dialogue between warring factions and the implementation of training programs on peace building in collaboration with Justice and Peace Commission.
To engage the
Church in advocacy and awareness-raising to facilitate refugee integration in host communities.
To encourage coordination with and between Episcopal Conferences and Ecumenical Pastoral structures for the
enhancement of pastoral work in refugee, returnee and internally displaced communities.
To work towards the creation of a welcoming environment for refugees, asylum seekers, and the internally displaced
that facilitates the full participation and integration into the grassroots activities of the local Church.
IMBISA Refugee Service co-ordinates, animates and supports the pastoral care of refugees within
the IMBISA region itself as well as abroad and also neighboring countries where refugees from the IMBISA region have sought asylum. Apart from pastoral care, IMBISA Refugee Service addresses other non-material needs of
the uprooted people, which are not taken care of by other organizations that are in this ministry. The organization is not working in isolation but is active and network with other agencies that are doing similar work.
